The 2020 AWMA Water Control Solutions Cohuna Bridge to Bridge will kick off this Sunday.

In it's 27th year, the event will look to raise money for Cohuna District Hospital.

Seven events are being run this year in running and cycling, ranging from a 1.6km 'mini miler' for kids, to a 50km cycle.

Initially run by the local Lions Club for 25 years, the event is now organised under the umbrella of the Cohuna and District Progress Association.

The money raised last year purchased two specialised chairs for patients in the dialysis and infusion day clinic.

This year, they're looking to fund an endoscopy camera, which is used for bowel cancer.

Event Director Kirstin Nicholson says that it's important to be able to keep care local.

"It's really important that we can try and keep these services local for our people, so they don't have to travel distances to go and get these tests done," says Nicholson.

According to Ms. Nicholson, it's one of the big events on the calendar for locals;

"We're also getting a lot of outsiders as well," she explains

"I think the furthest person we've got coming [to the event] is from Gippsland. We've got a lot from Echuca, Swan Hill, a lot from surrounding areas."
